Interview with Aunt and Uncle of Stêffani February 27th

After interviewing Eduardo and Flavio of interviews we went to meet Stêffani's aunt and uncle Adlemo and Antonia.  They work as bar owners and serve in Brazil what are called Salgados and lunch.  Well besides interviewing them they prepared a nice lunch for us.  Their bar sits at the cross of two streets open to public.  Different many places in the U.S, many of the bars in Brazil are out in the open.  As we ate Antonia told me how in the past it was lot easier to open bars in the past, but recently because of increased bureaucracy things have been getting more difficult.  For instance, not anyone can open a bar, but only people with licenses.  She went on to explain that for several years they had opened several bars built up the popularity of the place and then sold the "point"or bar to someone else to make money.  Antonia also mentioned that one difficulty they encountered was family problems of operating a bar with relatives.  For example, they had only planned to stay at their current bar for a year, but soon their time got extended to 6 years.  What Adelmo and Antonia encountered is true to many Brazilians.  Many families tend to open businesses as families and often have difficulty working out the social problems that can arise out of mixing family and business.
