Sunday Lunch with Jô Ribes February 28th
After church we were invited to lunch with our Sunday school teacher and her family. I also took the opportunity to interview about the business that she had started several years ago. I was really fascinated to learn how connected she was with all the church leaders here in Brazil and in the states. The house where we lunched used to be the mission president's house for many years. Elder Faust of the apostleship had also lived in the house when he was visiting Brazil. What helped her get to know all these leaders along side, living right by the first temple in Brazil was her business. Her work is a type of social media/relations specialist. She acts as a type of middle man in between producers and the media to facilitate the advertisement of the product. Most of the media attention gained by the LDS church in Brazil is thanks to to the influence of her company in media outlets. For instance, Jô told us that she is currently working with BYUTV to help bring many of the programs into Brazil. Well anyways after a good talk she invited us to the lunch table where we dived into the feast that she had prepared for us. Let's just say that she is a phenomenal cook and that I have rarely enjoyed a fish dish as I did that day.
